While automobile recalls rarely affect your auto insurance, we think it’s important to share them with you when the issue in question could cause your vehicle to crash.
Under recall as of August 3 are 778,000 Lexus HS 250h sedans and Toyota RAV4 SUVs, both of which are exhibiting an issue with their suspension platforms. Specifically, if the rear suspension nights aren’t tightened properly after the wheels are aligned, the suspension arms can rust and come apart.
So far this issue has led to nine crashes and three minor injuries, Toyota spokespeople say.
The model years covered by the recall are 2006-2011 Toyota RAV4s, and 2010 Lexus HS 250h’s.
According to representatives from Toyota, a plan to fix the problem is under development, and owners will be notified by mail when dealers are ready to repair the issue for free.
Meanwhile, Toyota advises any customers hearing abnormal sounds from the rear of their vehicles to report it to their dealers immediately.
